Two dominant signal callers in Bryce Wickline and Caden Henson - qb 2024 are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Westfall Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Valley View Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Westfall entered their tilt with Piketon with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Westfall took down Piketon 56-39 on Friday.
Wickline continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 157 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry, and also throwing for 229 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. Wickline hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for three straight games. Westfall also got a significant boost from Joey Wright, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 126 yards.
Meanwhile, after a string of nine wins, Valley View's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 49-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Waynesville.
Valley View's defeat came about despite a quality game from Henson - qb 2024, who rushed for 190 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 382 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.9 yards per attempt. Henson - qb 2024 was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 52 yards. Micah Valenti also helped out as he racked up 135 receiving yards.
Westfall has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Valley View, their loss dropped their record down to 9-1.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Westfall has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 178.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Valley View struggles in that department as they've been even better at 217 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
