The Pender Pendragons scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Winnebago 66-43. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-15.
Aiden Beckman was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Alex Roth was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Despite the defeat, Winnebago saw an underclassman step up: Braden Brownrigg scored ten points along with four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Rachman Free-Bass, who scored six points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Even though they lost, Winnebago were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pender only racked up 19 assists.
Pender is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Winnebago, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.
Pender and Plattsmouth will face off at 2:00 p.m. on December 30, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Plattsmouth focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
