The biggest upset of the week belonged to Bowie, who took down 591st ranked Bowie, 14-7.
Chapin extended the longest winning streak in 4A Region I District 1 this week by beating Austin, 56-28. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
El Paso's dynamic duo of Jesus Escobedo and Bryant Wolf proved tough for Jefferson to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Escobedo threw for 142 yards and one touchdown and Wolf had 47 yards receiving. Andy Rivera helped El Paso's passing attack out by catching one ball for 40 yards.
Jeremiah Gomez was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 19 carries, he ran for 167 yards as Irvin defeated the Silver Foxes. Peter Marquez also contributed to the rushing game with 53 yards on the ground.
Chapin's Seth Gonzalez and Jaylen Addison have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Gonzalez has thrown for 1140 yards this season, while Addison, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 38 catches for 540 yards. The Panthers' Myles Douglas leads the league in rushing yards with 758.
A big matchup in 4A Region I District 1 this week will be when Rene Hernandez's team takes on Andress. As it stands, the Huskies are in first, while the Eagles are in sixth.
Andress moved up to 662 from 793 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Patrick Brown's team was able to make the jump by topping the Bears 14-7.
