Basketball Recap: Young Americans Christian Beats Fideles Christian for Their Third Straight Victory

After losing to Fideles Christian the last time they met, Young Americans Christian decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Young Americans Christian Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against the Fideles Christian Rangers on Friday, sneaking past 72-69. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since November 14, 2023.

Young Americans Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Damian Crawford out in front who went 11 for 19 on his way to 21 points. The dominant performance gave Crawford a new career-high in points. Nick Holloway was another key player, going 7 for 17 on his way to 21 points and three steals.

When it comes to explaining why Fideles Christian lost, don't look at Xander Lipinski. Despite the final result, he went 12 of 21 en route to 36 points, to go along with six rebounds and three blocks. Lipinski has been hot, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Shadburn, who posted ten points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists.

The victory (which was Young Americans Christian's third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Fideles Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Young Americans Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 86-69 defeat against Lanier Christian Academy on the 7th. As for Fideles Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 74-67 loss against Johnson Ferry Christian Academy on the 7th.
