The St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders will head out to square off against the Pompano Beach Golden Tornadoes at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. St. Thomas Aquinas will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
On Tuesday, St. Thomas Aquinas got the win against South Plantation by a conclusive 3-0.
St. Thomas Aquinas never let South Plantation on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-14, 25-22.

St. Thomas Aquinas' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Elijah Lam, who had four aces and three digs, and Adriano Chiabra, who had 19 assists and three digs. Chiabra has been hot, having posted 12 or more assists the last six times he's played.
They weren't the only good server: St. Thomas Aquinas was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 16 aces. They are 8-1 when they serve at least ten aces.
Pompano Beach not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 13th. They put the hurt on Fort Lauderdale with a sharp 3-0 win.
The 3-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-22, 26-24.
St. Thomas Aquinas pushed their record up to 11-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Pompano Beach, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's matchup: St. Thomas Aquinas hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 4.9 blocks per game. However, it's not like Pompano Beach struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.8 blocks. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
St. Thomas Aquinas came up short against Pompano Beach in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 3-1. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
