Western put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Pinecrest Academy Cadence Cougars with a sharp 15-0 victory. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.

Carlos Cota made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Cota was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Western is undefeated when Cota posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Edgar Garcia was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. He also scored three runs, which is notable because Western is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Cade Quintana was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and one triple.

Western was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Western has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Pinecrest Academy Cadence, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Western will take on Cimarron-Memorial at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.75 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Pinecrest Academy Cadence, they will face off against Durango at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
