The Mattawan Wildcats can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They snuck past St. Joseph with a 41-35 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Mattawan also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
It was another big night for Delaney Elsmore, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Mattawan's points. Another player making a difference was Caitlin Ryan, who scored six points along with two steals.
Mattawan's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-7. As for St. Joseph, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.
Mattawan will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Portage Central at 7:00 p.m. Portage Central will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something Mattawan surely won't give up without a fight. St. Joseph's road trip will continue as they head out to face Portage Northern at 7:00 p.m. on February 15th.
