Baseball Recap: Owego Free Academy Comes Up Short

Owego Free Academy lost against Maine-Endwell back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The River Hawks fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 2-1. The match marked the River Hawks' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Elijah Lewis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

Owego Free Academy's loss dropped their record down to 14-4-1. As for Maine-Endwell, they moved to 6-7 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

While Owego Free Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
