Nicolet proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by ten) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the West Bend East Suns 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Knights have posted since June 4, 2024.
Nick Bongard made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, earning two runs and one stolen base.
In other pitching news, Nicolet got a great performance from Will Vander Mel as he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave Vander Mel a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
