Kenosha Christian Life is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Luther Prep on Thursday. They came up short against the Phoenix, falling 11-1. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Phoenix recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Kenosha Christian Life saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Plapp, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for St. Catherine's, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Racine Lutheran/Prairie on Thursday, sneaking past 18-17. With that win, the Angels brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
Issac Cantu made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Cantu was even better at the plate, going 4-for-6 with four stolen bases, six RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for St. Catherine's: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 0-4 otherwise.
In other batting news, Max Avila was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. He also put up two hits, which were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Findlay Lalor, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
St. Catherine's always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .617. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.
The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-4. As for Kenosha Christian Life, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
Kenosha Christian Life came up short against St. Catherine's in their previous meeting back in May of 2017, falling 7-2. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
