The Liberty Minutemen won the last time they faced the Brookville Bees, and things went their way on Friday too. Liberty walked away with a 40-31 victory over Brookville. Given Liberty's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 56th, while Brookville is ranked 220th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Liberty's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shania Brown, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. Brown is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Annabelle Whorley, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Liberty is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for Brookville, they dropped their record down to 8-8 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Liberty will take on Jefferson Forest at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jefferson Forest will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Brookville, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Glass at 6:00 p.m. Glass is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
