Southington  took care of business in their home opener  on Saturday. They walked away with  a   6-3  victory over the Conard Red Wolves. The Blue Knights have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Red Wolves, too.

 Ryan DeGumbia looked comfortable as he  kept things locked down with   no  earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Those  ten  strikeouts gave  him a new career-high.
 On the hitting side,  the team  relied heavily on  Mitch Zielinski, who  scored a  run and  stole two bases while  getting on base  in two of his three plate appearances.  Shane Richters was another key player,  scoring a  run while going 2-for-4.
 Looking ahead, Southington is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will  challenge  Enfield  at 3:45  p.m.  on Monday. As for Conard, they will face off against Tolland at 4:00  p.m.  on Monday.
