Even though the Hillcrest Vikings have not done well against the Mitchell Tigers recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Hillcrest put the hurt on Mitchell with a sharp 70-48 win. With Hillcrest ahead 38-14 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Despite the loss, Mitchell still got an impressive performance from Takeria Bailey, who scored 30 points along with six rebounds. Bailey scored a full 62.5% of Mitchell's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Serenitee Rowand, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Hillcrest now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Mitchell, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hillcrest will be home for the holidays to greet Fairley on Friday. Fairley's defense has only allowed 28.7 points per game this season, so Hillcrest's offense will have their work cut out for Hillcrest. As for Mitchell, they will play host again and welcome Overton, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Overton presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mitchell in Tennessee (Overton is ranked 117th, while Mitchell is ranked 376th).
