The Antelope Titans pushed their score all the way to 67 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They received a tough blow as they fell 83-67 to Del Oro. While losing is never fun, Antelope can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 255th, while Del Oro is ranked 50th).
When it comes to explaining why Antelope lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ethan Thompson. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with four steals. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for him. Juleean Alias was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five assists.
Del Oro's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jake Williams, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Williams set a new season high mark in assists with five. Another player making a difference was Caden Pinnick, who scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Antelope has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Del Oro, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.
Antelope won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Seaside at 5:00 p.m. on December 21st. Seaside is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. Del Oro and Yuba City will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
