AAAAA Region 3 recap Oct. 9, 2012
Richmond Hill extended the longest winning streak in AAAAA Region 3 this week by beating Groves, 39-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Wildcats.
Effingham County moved up to 199 from 243 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 24-3 win over Windsor Forest helped the Rebels improve their standing.
The Rebels' dynamic duo of Jessie Robbins and Devin Nixon proved tough for Richmond Hill to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Robbins threw for 30 yards and Nixon had 16 yards receiving. Sa'mard Osborne helped Groves' passing attack out by catching four balls for 11 yards.
David Katzman was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 94 yards on eight carries as the Wildcats fell to the Wildcats. Dominique Allen also contributed to the rushing game with 64 yards on the ground.
Carl Muthersbaugh's team's Robbins and Thomas Fields have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading AAAAA Region 3 in both passing and receiving yards. Robbins has thrown for 399 yards this season, while Fields, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 10 catches for 190 yards. Katzman from Richmond Hill leads the league in rushing with 464 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Effingham County takes on the Wildcats. The Rebels are currently in fourth, while Richmond Hill is in first.
The Wildcats took down the Rebels 39-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Katzman in the win.
