If the Red Mesa Redskins were feeling good off their 62-31 takedown of the Ramah Mustangs on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Red Mesa lost to Williams at home by a decisive 53-35 margin on Tuesday. Red Mesa lost against Williams in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 71-46 score last time.
Williams' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nickoli Cody, who scored 13 points along with six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for Cody. Quintin Hernandez was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven steals and six rebounds.
Red Mesa's loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-5. As for Williams, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.
Red Mesa will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Hopi at 7:30 p.m. Hopi presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Red Mesa in Arizona (Hopi is ranked 103rd, while Red Mesa is ranked 239th). As for Williams, they will head out on the road to face off against Fredonia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fredonia comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
