The Hillcrest Rams's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 45-27 bruising from Woodmont. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Hillcrest of the 70-34 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
Ashlyn Scott was Hillcrest's leading scorer, having posted ten points. Scott also led the team in assists with two.
Woodmont found their leader in underclassman Mattie Kellett, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and five steals. That's the first time this season that Kellett pulled down eight or more rebounds. Tyana Pullman was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Hillcrest's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-12. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.8 points per game. As for Woodmont, their victory bumped their record up to 6-12.
Hillcrest will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against T.L. Hanna at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully T.L. Hanna focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday. As for Woodmont, they will head out on the road to take on Travelers Rest at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
