It's playoff time, and Nimitz had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Conroe Tigers by a score of 66-53 on Tuesday. The win was nothing new for the Cougars as they're now sitting on 11 straight.
It was another big night for Aniah Richard, who went 7-for-14 on her way to 24 points in addition to seven assists and five steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Williams, who went 6-for-14 en route to 16 points and six assists.
Richard wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Nimitz was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Conroe only racked up nine assists.
When it comes to explaining why Conroe lost, don't look at Taylor Smith. Despite the final result, she went 7-for-10 to rack up 17 points and six boards. Thanks to that strong game, Smith now owns an excellent 45.3% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Riley Gross, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds.
Nimitz pushed their record up to 25-8 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points over those games. As for Conroe, their loss dropped their record down to 17-11.
Nimitz has already played their next contest, a 51-36 win against Cypress Ranch on the 13th. Conroe does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
