Lincoln has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Grafton Bearcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Lincoln focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Thursday.
Lincoln was handed a three-point defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against the Knights on Thursday. Lincoln took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 79-41 win over the Knights. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, as Lincoln did.
It was another big night for Ashlyn Riley, who shot 9-for-12 from deep and dropped a double-double on 41 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Davisson, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine assists.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Grafton's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 38-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Robert C. Byrd. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Grafton in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Grafton saw an underclassman step up: Kenna Keener dropped a double-double on 11 points and 17 rebounds. Keener hasn't dropped below two blocks for 12 straight games. Kambree Delaney was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Lincoln's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-8. As for Grafton, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-6.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Lincoln have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Grafton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Lincoln didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Bearcats when the teams last played back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 48-42 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lincoln since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
