Orland is 7-0 against Las Plumas since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Orland Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Las Plumas Thunderbirds at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Orland's favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season.
Last Friday, Orland blew past Paradise, posting a 42-6 win on the road. Given Orland's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 319th, while Paradise is ranked 737th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jaime Albarran continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 185 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries. Albarran's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. Another big playmaker for Orland was Colby Stoltenberg, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, everything went Las Plumas' way against Corning on Friday as Las Plumas made off with a 41-21 win. The result was nothing new for Las Plumas, who have now won four games by 20 points or more so far this season.
Las Plumas got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Drake Sahagun out in front who threw for 126 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 passes. Bryan Houghton was another key contributor, picking up 101 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Orland to 5-1 and Las Plumas to 4-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Orland has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 327 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Las Plumas struggles in that department as they've been averaging 217.9 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Everything came up roses for Orland against Las Plumas when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 49-21 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Orland since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
