Westfield is 2-8 against Hamilton Southeastern since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Shamrocks are taking a road trip to take on the Royals at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Westfield put up the most runs they have all season on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 14-6 margin over Pendleton Heights. The Shamrocks not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 23rd (when they won 10-1).
Ava Kainrath was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Cam Pulice was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Westfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Hamilton Southeastern had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They blew past the Indians 12-2. The Royals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.
Maya Valenta was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Isabella Mink also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Hamilton Southeastern pushed their record up to 14-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Westfield, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-8 record.
Both Westfield and Hamilton Southeastern just can't seem to miss. The Shamrocks have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. However, it's not like Hamilton Southeastern struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Westfield suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Hamilton Southeastern when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Shamrocks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
