Lorain is 10-0 against the Mustangs since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Lorain Titans will head out on the road to take on the Maple Heights Mustangs at 12:30 p.m. Lorain is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Last Monday, Lorain made easy work of the Bulldogs and carried off a 67-44 win.
Lorain's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jelynn Carrington led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Carrington pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ca'milynne Shiellds, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Maple Heights unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They were outmatched by Warrensville Heights on the road and fell 56-10. While losing is never fun, Maple Heights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 490th, while the Tigers are ranked 55th).
Lorain's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Maple Heights, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.
Everything went Lorain's way against the Mustangs when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the Titans made off with a 50-28 win. With Lorain ahead 35-7 at the half, the game was all but over already.
