The Belleview Rattlers are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on the Williston Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Gainesville hit Belleview with a five-run first inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rattlers fell just short of the Hurricanes by a score of 6-4. The Rattlers have struggled against the Hurricanes recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Gilbehert Mendoza made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles. Those doubles marked the first that he has hit this season.
Williston came out on top against Bell on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Red Devils were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Bulldogs. The game was the first time the Red Devils have beaten the Bulldogs on their field since April 3, 2023.
Aiden Phillips made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Phillips was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
In other pitching news, Eli Kennedy looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Colby Jansen was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Harlan Cole, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Williston now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Belleview, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Belleview might still be hurting after the 7-1 loss they got from Williston when the teams last played back in March of 2019. Can the Rattlers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
