Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Defeat Ends East Ridge's Winning Streak

After a string of six wins, East Ridge's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Celebration Storm by a score of 52-50.

When it comes to explaining why East Ridge lost, don't look at Tychelle Gordon. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 24 points and 19 rebounds. Those 24 points gave Gordon a new career-high. Yanneris Peralta was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to nine steals and six boards.

Even though they lost, East Ridge was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Celebration only posted four assists.

Emma Zukowski had a dynamite game for Celebration, dropping a double-double on 34 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sofia Ortiz, who posted four points along with seven boards and four steals.

East Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 14-4. As for Celebration, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season.

East Ridge will take on West Port on February 6th. West Port will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something East Ridge surely won't give up without a fight. Celebration has already played their next matchup, a 46-38 defeat against Mitchell on the 31st.
