The River Forest Ingots were the 42-33 winner over the Whiting Oilers when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. River Forest received a tough blow on Wednesday as they fell 52-33 to Whiting. River Forest just can't catch a break and has now endured five defeats in a row.
Victoria Velez was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 10 steals for Whiting. Velez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Quinones, who scored 15 points along with 6 steals.
River Forest's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Whiting, their win bumped their record up to 3-5-1.
River Forest will be playing at home against Hanover Central at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hanover Central presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than River Forest in Indiana (Hanover Central is ranked 75th, while River Forest is ranked 330th). As for Whiting, they will head out on the road to face off against Lighthouse College Prep Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
