After flying high against the Kings Mountain Mountaineers last Wednesday, the Huss Huskies came back down to earth. Huss lost to South Point at home by a decisive 63-49 margin on Friday. Huss was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as South Point apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Several Huskies players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Savanni Harris, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Myla Hoover, who scored 18 points along with two steals.
Amya Graham was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 32 rebounds for South Point. Graham is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Maddie Frank, who scored 19 points.
Huss' defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for South Point, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season.
Huss will head out on the road to take on Stuart W. Cramer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Stuart W. Cramer will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. As for South Point, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Crest at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Crest is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 56.4 points per game.
