Desert Valley recap Nov. 7, 2012
La Quinta moved up to 428 from 460 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Desert Valley. The Blackhawks were able to make move up by besting Palm Desert 63-40.
Palm Springs extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Cathedral City, 45-17. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
The Aztecs' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Joseph Castelli threw for 184 and three touchdowns and Garin Mesarch had 46 yards receiving. On the ground Trae Riek chipped in 142 yards. Alex Jones helped Palm Desert's passing attack out by catching two balls for 42 yards.
Palm Desert's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Aztecs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Castelli has thrown for 1271 yards and 16 touchdowns this season, while Kyle Kabeary has 39 catches for 577 yards. Riek leads the league in rushing with 1059 yards.
Coachella Valley and Indio played the most hotly contested game in Desert Valley this week, with Coachella Valley eventually emerging with a 23-17 victory.
