The Grand Valley Mustangs will head out to take on the Badger Braves at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Grand Valley will bounce into Monday's game after beating Bristol, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 22-11 margin over the Panthers on Friday.
Ady Kovacic made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-6 with four RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Jenna Poyer was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Kaityln Baumann also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Grand Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, while Badger put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Bloomfield. The Braves put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 7-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Braves in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won seven in a row.
Not much got past Samantha Bradbury, who gave up just three hits and racked up 14 Ks to keep Bloomfield off the board.
On the hitting side, Madison Lindus was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kiyah Scharfenberg, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Grand Valley's record now sits at 7-8. As for Badger, their record is now 9-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Grand Valley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Badger struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Grand Valley came up short against Badger when the teams last played last Wednesday, falling 9-6. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
