The West Pioneers had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 46-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of South on Friday. West lost against South in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 49-47 score last time.
West's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Semaj James, who scored 10 points along with 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Gavyn Phillips, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 10 rebounds.
West's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for South, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
West will head out on the road to face off against East at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Northwest at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Northwest focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday.
