If the San Benito Greyhounds were riding high off their 61-41 takedown of the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Bears last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. San Benito ended up on the wrong side of a tough 60-40 walloping at the hands of Miller on Thursday. San Benito lost against Miller in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 81-52 score last time.
Miller can attribute much of their success to Vicente Delagarza, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was George Simmons, who scored 11 points.
San Benito has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Miller, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 11-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. San Benito will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Harlingen at 6:00 p.m. on January 12, 2024. Miller won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Hanna at 1:30 p.m. on December 29th. Hopefully Hanna focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Friday.
