Softball Recap: Sentinel Wins High-Profile Game Against Skyview

Sentinel faced Skyview in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Spartans put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 17-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won six in a row.

Alyssa Hanninen made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Haley Sellers, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Makenna Thorson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Sentinel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Sentinel's record now sits at 7-5. As for Skyview, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-5.
