Baseball Recap: Buckley Comes Up Short

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Buckley's offense. They fell just short of the Ellsworth Lancers by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. The Bears were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lancers earlier this season, when they won 7-6.

Buckley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landon Kulawiak, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. Kulawiak has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Buckley has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Ellsworth, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-9 record.

Coming up, Buckley will look to defend their home field on Friday against St. Mary at 4:15 p.m. As for Ellsworth, they are taking a road trip to face off against Traverse City Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Lancers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sabres have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
