The Porter Ridge Pirates will challenge the Palisades Pumas at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Porter Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
While Porter Ridge's win against Ardrey Kell wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Porter Ridge had just enough and edged out Ardrey Kell 5-4. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Pirates as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Brooklyn Green was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Green was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Green wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Stamey, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Palisades, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past Berry 17-6 on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Pumas in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won six in a row.
Palisades got a massive performance out of Sanaa Dorsey, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with seven RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those seven RBI gave Dorsey a new career-high. Gracie Goodrich was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one double.
Palisades' victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Porter Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Porter Ridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. However, it's not like Palisades struggles in that department as they've averaged .316. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Porter Ridge's way against Palisades in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Porter Ridge made off with a 16-0 victory. Does Porter Ridge have another victory up their sleeve, or will Palisades turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
