Basketball Recap: Cornerstone Christian Piles Up the Points Against Coosa Valley Academy

Cornerstone Christian hasn't had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They took their game on Thursday with ease, bagging a 72-23 win over the Coosa Valley Academy Rebels. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 81-29 on January 7th.

Cornerstone Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Zeke Adams out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Adams' evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Malachi Adams, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards.

Cornerstone Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Cornerstone Christian has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 3-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.8 points per game. As for Coosa Valley Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-7 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Cornerstone Christian and Coosa Valley Academy could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings. Cornerstone Christian (ranked 297th) will meet Banks Academy (ranked 98th) at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Coosa Valley Academy will square off against Bessemer Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday down 380 places (425 vs. 45).
