The Cypress Creek Coyotes struggled with threes on Wednesday (the Wesley Chapel Wildcats had five more) and sadly the final score reflected it. The contest between the pair wasn't particularly close, with Cypress Creek falling 71-54. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 404th, while Wesley Chapel is ranked 102nd).
Cypress Creek's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Manuel Castro, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and five steals, and Ryan Eaton who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks. Castro has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Dalfonso Burney was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Wesley Chapel's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sian Morris, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Murray, who scored 19 points along with three steals.
Cypress Creek now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Wesley Chapel, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-3.
Cypress Creek will head out on the road to challenge Wiregrass Ranch at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Wiregrass Ranch knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 17 matches -- so hopefully Cypress Creek likes a good challenge. As for Wesley Chapel, they will be playing at home against Land O' Lakes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Land O' Lakes focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Saturday.
