The East Lincoln Mustangs entered their tilt with the North Iredell Raiders with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. East Lincoln took down North Iredell 57-41 on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for East Lincoln, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Leading East Lincoln to victory were Emma Montanari and Abbie Hege. Montanari scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks, while Hege dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Montanari is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Taniyah Thomas was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with four steals.
East Lincoln's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-1. As for North Iredell, their loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Lincoln will take on North Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully North Lincoln focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Tuesday. As for North Iredell, they will head out on the road to face off against West Iredell at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Iredell is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
