Cape Fear scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 77-42 win over Douglas Byrd at home. That looming 77-42 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Cape Fear yet this season.
Among those leading the charge was Damien Gary, who scored 15 points along with nine assists and five rebounds. Connor Moore was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Lumberton over Purnell Swett in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Lumberton blew Purnell Swett out of the water with a 69-19 final score. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Lumberton has managed all season.
The victory makes it two in a row for Cape Fear and bumps their season record up to 6-8. As for Lumberton, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Cape Fear came up short against Lumberton in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 67-57. Can Cape Fear avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
