The Serra Catholic Eagles will square off against the Neshannock Lancers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, Serra Catholic turned things around against Southmoreland on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Scotties with a sharp 8-2 victory.
The team relied heavily on Max Black, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Jake Anderson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.
Serra Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Neshannock made easy work of Mohawk Area on Wednesday and carried off a 10-3 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Lancers have posted against the Warriors since April 9, 2021.
Cole Hutchison made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Hutchison was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Nathan Rickel was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI. Those triples were his first of the season. Joey DiMuccio was another key player, going 1-for-2 with four RBI.
Neshannock's win bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Serra Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Serra Catholic has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Neshannock struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Serra Catholic got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2022 against Neshannock by a conclusive 8-2 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
