The Viewmont Vikings's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They suffered a tough 72-49 loss at the hands of Bountiful. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Viewmont has suffered since November 21, 2023.
Viewmont's loss came despite strong showings from Cache Tuia and Drez Jensen. Tuia scored 18 points, while Jensen scored ten points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kade Cannon, who scored six points.
Even though they lost, Viewmont were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. This was only their seventh loss (out of eight games) when they've passed the ball that well.
Leading Bountiful to victory were Bryson Heath and Charlie Smith. Heath scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Smith went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and 3 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. Carson Smith was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five assists.
Viewmont's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Bountiful, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Viewmont will head out on the road to challenge Box Elder at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Box Elder is on a three-game streak of home losses, Viewmont a six-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Bountiful will take on Judge Memorial Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Judge Memorial Catholic is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 60.4 points per game.
