Softball Recap: Credo Wins Going Away Against Laytonville

Credo won the last time they faced Laytonville and things went their way on Friday too. The Gryphon were the clear victors by a 27-13 margin over the Warriors. The result was nothing new for the Gryphon, who have now won five contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Credo got a massive performance out of Aliana Martinez, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe LaFleur, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI.

Credo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .731. They are 5-2 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Credo and bumps their season record up to 5-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.0 runs over those games. As for Laytonville, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Credo will head out to face off against Willits at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolverines have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.15 runs per game on average), something the Gryphon will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Laytonville, they will head out on the road to square off against Tomales at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Braves will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
