The Danvers Falcons will challenge the Marblehead Magicians at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Danvers is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
Danvers' pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Winthrop as they made off with a 16-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.
Kyla Moroney made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Lila Flynn and Addi McCarty did most of the damage at the plate: Flynn went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base, while McCarty went 2-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three RBI. Flynn is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Brooke Wilichoski, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Danvers was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Winthrop only posted a batting average of .118.
Meanwhile, Marblehead is still undefeated this season after their game against Beverly on Wednesday, but Beverly came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Magicians came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 1-0 W against the Panthers. The one-run effort marked the Magicians' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Danvers' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Marblehead, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.
Danvers suffered a grim 9-2 defeat to Marblehead in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Falcons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
