Perris took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Sherman Indian with a sharp 17-1 victory.
Hannah Harper made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Harper was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kimberly Santoyo, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, three runs, and one triple. Trinity Martinez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, West Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took an 18-15 hit to the loss column at the hands of Citrus Hill. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (13), the Mustangs still had to take the loss.
Deonys Ioane was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-5 with one home run, two triples, and three runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Jennah Murphy, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Even though they lost, West Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .425. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
West Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Perris, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
