It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Golden Gate Titans had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by Mariner at home to the tune of 48-14. Considering Golden Gate has won seven contests by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Trayvon Jean continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 223 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.1 yards per carry. Jean is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Powell, who threw for 210 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes.
Although Mariner took the loss, they still got scores from Kaelan Davidson and Justin Lewis.
The win was the fifth in a row for Golden Gate, bringing their record for this year to 9-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.4 points per game. As for Mariner, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-3 record this season.
Golden Gate will stay at home for another week and welcome Dunbar at 7:30 p.m. on November 17th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Dunbar is ranked 98th, while Golden Gate is ranked 77th). Mariner does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
