2A Region 4 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Hale County was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to fourth in 2A Region 4. Earlier in the week, the Wildcats defeated Marion 40-0.
Lamar County and Sulligent played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Lamar County eventually emerging with a 18-14 victory. Dallas Cockerham threw for 13 yards and ran for 72 yards in the win.
The Bulldogs' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver.
Devin Dias was the best wideout in the league this week as Lamar County topped the Blue Devils. Dias racked up one reception for 13 yards.
Dusty Vann made the biggest impact on defense this week as Ken Adams's team bested Sulligent. The 5-foot-6 junior pulled down one interception.
Hatch's De'Rodrick Norfleet and Brandon Jones have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 2A Region 4 in both passing and receiving yards. Norfleet has thrown for 472 yards this season, while Jones, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has nine catches for 254 yards. Cockerham from the Bulldogs leads the league in rushing with 358 yards.
Cold Springs made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 13,437 from 14,039. The advance stemmed from a 63-12 victory over the Eagles last week.
