Baseball Recap: Carnegie's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Carnegie put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Geary Bison with a sharp 12-1 win. While the Wildcats didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Chizm Kuykendall made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero). He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Four bases. while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Stetson West was a standout: he scored two runs and stole Six bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Those six stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chasen Anderson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Carnegie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Carnegie pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Geary, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carnegie will take on Hinton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Carnegie's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Hinton's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Geary, they will face off against Okeene at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
