Lakeland and Old Forge are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Lakeland Chiefs will be playing at home against the Old Forge Blue Devils at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Lakeland unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. The matchup between Lakeland and Holy Cross wasn't particularly close, with Lakeland falling 65-47. While losing is never fun, Lakeland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 422nd, while Holy Cross is ranked 65th).
Despite their defeat, Lakeland saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Nathan Hunt, who scored 14 points along with five assists and five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hunt has scored all season. Chase Rosenkrans was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Lakeland struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Old Forge was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 60-54 to Carbondale Area.
Lakeland now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Old Forge, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
