The Cathedral Catholic Dons will be taking part in a tournament against the Mission Hills Grizzlies at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Cathedral Catholic 2.8, Mission Hills 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
While Cathedral Catholic's victory against Valhalla wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Cathedral Catholic came out on top in a nail-biter against Valhalla on Monday, sneaking past 3-1. The win continues a trend for the Dons in their matchups with the Norsemen: they've now won three in a row.

Cathedral Catholic got a great performance from Sophia Clark as she struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). Clark has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Cathedral Catholic's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nia Talatiana, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Sina Talataina was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Cathedral Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valhalla struck out 11 times.
Meanwhile, Mission Hills fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Imperial on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 2-1. The Grizzlies' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Leah Llamas put in work no matter where she played. She pitched nine innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.
Mission Hills' loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Cathedral Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
Cathedral Catholic beat Mission Hills 6-1 in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Will Cathedral Catholic repeat their success, or does Mission Hills has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
