It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Wiregrass Ranch Bulls can now relate to. They were beaten by the Wildcats 70-30 on Monday. While losing is never fun, Wiregrass Ranch can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while Forest is ranked 125th).
Despite the loss, Wiregrass Ranch still got an impressive performance from Claire Kelley, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Kelley has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tennae Cabral, who scored eight points along with four blocks.
Wiregrass Ranch struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Forest racked up 11 assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Forest to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ja'Niyah McCoy, who scored 19 points along with two steals. McCoy has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last five times she's played. Taleah Jones was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Wiregrass Ranch has not been sharp recently as the team has lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Forest, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-10.
Wiregrass Ranch does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Forest is on the road again on Wednesday and plays Land O' Lakes at 8:00 p.m. on February 7th. Forest is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 56.2 points per game this season.
