Baseball Recap: Shadow Ridge Finds Home Field Redemption Against Maryvale

There's no place like home for Shadow Ridge, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They put the hurt on the Maryvale Panthers with a sharp 12-2 win on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Stallions, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Zack Coots looked comfortable as he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Owen Gorman was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Anthony Salgado, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Shadow Ridge hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in seven consecutive contests.

Shadow Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Maryvale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-9.

Coming up, Shadow Ridge will welcome Mountain Ridge at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Mountain Lions will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Stallions surely won't give up without a fight. As for Maryvale, they have already played their next match, a 1-0 loss against Browne on the 10th.
