Gibault Catholic is a perfect 3-0 against Metro-East Lutheran since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Hawks will head out to take on the Knights at 4:30 p.m. Metro-East Lutheran took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Gibault Catholic, who comes in off a win.

Gibault Catholic took a 13-run loss the last time they faced off against Mascoutah, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Hawks had just enough and edged out the Indians 4-3 on Saturday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Hawks as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Kole Schilling, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Michael Wessel was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Metro-East Lutheran didn't have quite enough to beat Springfield Southeast on Wednesday and fell 4-3. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Metro-East Lutheran saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Kober, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Metro-East Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Gibault Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 7-16.

Gibault Catholic took their victory against Metro-East Lutheran when the teams last played back in May of 2022 by a conclusive 20-5 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
